Restoring Comfort and Dignity for Displaced Families
As humanitarian needs continue to escalate across northern Gaza, Laith Relief Office (LRO) launched the Mattress Distribution Project to support displaced and vulnerable families by providing essential sleeping mattresses.
For displaced families, a mattress is far more than a household item—it represents comfort, protection, and an opportunity to rest after prolonged displacement and hardship. Many families continue to live in overcrowded shelters, temporary tents, or partially damaged homes, where access to basic necessities remains extremely limited.
Through this project, LRO provided sleeping mattresses to families facing the greatest humanitarian needs, with priority given to households caring for children, older persons, individuals with chronic health conditions, and those living in particularly difficult circumstances.
The distribution reached beneficiaries residing in displacement shelters, schools used as temporary accommodation, and partially damaged homes, helping to improve sleeping conditions and reduce the physical strain of sleeping on hard floors.
Beyond the material assistance, the project contributed to restoring a sense of dignity, comfort, and psychological well-being. Beneficiaries expressed their appreciation, describing the mattresses as a meaningful source of relief and stability during an exceptionally challenging period.
