In a humanitarian mission, the cold of the streets is met with the warmth of initiatives.
In a moving humanitarian scene, the Leith Relief Team implemented a campaign to distribute blankets to affected families in northern Gaza on Monday, December 2, 2024. This initiative served as a direct step toward alleviating the suffering of people facing a harsh winter intensified by the ongoing war.
During the campaign, the team distributed hundreds of blankets to the most impoverished families, focusing particularly on those who lost their homes or are living in dwellings partially destroyed by shelling. The displacement camps witnessed a significant demand for this aid, reflecting the immense scale of need and the dire conditions prevailing in the region. In this context, the Leith Team clarified that this campaign is part of its ongoing efforts to support the population’s resilience.
Following this success, the team implemented similar initiatives in several displacement camps across the northern Strip, targeting the most affected groups. The campaign did more than just provide warmth for bodies—it restored a sense of hope to the hearts of the beneficiaries. Families expressed their deep gratitude, especially as the initiative arrived at a time when Gaza suffers from an acute shortage of resources and an astronomical rise in the cost of living.
In a poignant comment, one of the residents said:
“It is not just the blanket we need, but the feeling that there is someone who still remembers us.”
Furthermore, the team reaffirmed its commitment to continuing relief campaigns throughout the winter season. They indicated that they are currently preparing food aid and heavy winter clothing to reach the largest possible number of affected families.
In their message to donors, the Leith team expressed their gratitude and called for continued support. They explained that Gaza needs not only food, but all the essentials of life: warmth, safety, and dignity.
