“Laith” comforts displaced children
Amidst the Tragedy, a Smile Persists: Leith Relief Team Brings Joy to Displaced Children in Gaza
In the heart of the tragedy and under the whistle of bullets, the Leith Relief Team insisted on planting a smile, even in the harshest moments. As schools have been transformed into shelters for dozens of displaced families due to the ongoing aggression on the Gaza Strip, the team found a way to bridge the gap between pain and hope.
Despite the sounds of shelling and destruction, laughter echoed through the Al-Fakhura School in northern Gaza on July 24, 2024. The team organized a small celebration, creating moments of fleeting joy amidst a reality filled with suffering.
The event featured entertainment shows and interactive activities, where children participated in fun group games. Additionally, ready-to-eat meals were distributed to all participants.
Furthermore, every child received a comprehensive stationery kit, including notebooks, pens, and essential educational tools. This step was taken to alleviate the financial burden on parents and to support the continuity of education despite the conditions of war.
The team members reaffirmed their belief in children’s right to play and experience joy, even in wartime. They emphasized the critical importance of making children feel safe, regardless of the circumstances. They also expressed their intention to replicate these events in other shelters whenever possible, aiming to provide psychological relief to children who have paid the price of war with their innocence.
In response, the initiative was met with great warmth from the parents. Deep smiles appeared on the children’s faces—smiles that carried a wealth of hope. In Gaza, joy is still being created despite the pain. The team clarified that its mission is not limited to providing relief, but extends to mending hearts and breathing life back into souls.
